So. Clean eating. Basically what it is to me is not eating things that I don't know what are. Simple as that. Have you ever picked up a loaf of bread or a granola bar that claims to be healthy and just looked at the ingredients? There are so many ingredients that I have no idea what are.. I can't even pronounce them! So the goal is to not eat what you don't know.
By doing this you will start to eat a lot of whole foods. Fruits, veggies, nuts, eggs, meat, and whole grains that haven't been stripped of all their nutrients are all going to be a big part of clean eating. It's like going back to before all of these chemicals that make our food yummy and cheap existed. It makes sense doesn't it?? Well, it does to me :)
I personally love all kinds of whole foods in the first place, but it was still a transition to go away from processed foods. We just get used to the way they taste and then we start thinking that if it doesn't taste like that, that its not yummy. But your body will totally adjust! Mine did. When I first stopped eating sweets and processed food I craved it like crazy! But now it is much easier to say no. Sure I still enjoy eating it now and then (especially deserts) but my body doesn't crave it like it did before. And it doesn't appeal to me like it used to.
I'm not perfect at clean eating that's for sure! Because lets be honest, sometimes its just not practical! I'm sure there will always be things that I will still eat, but overall I am still eating way healthier then I was before. And I really love the way it makes me feel! It feels, well, clean! and its awesome :)
And here is the biggest reason to eat clean! I want to have the energy to play with my baby! And I want to be around for a long, long time to watch him grow up :) And hopefully I will be able to teach him the importance of being healthy.
