Breakfast

So I'm jumping on the quinoa (pronounced keen-wah) train

I have been seeing recipes all of over for quinoa, but I never thought much of them.  But I am doing this meal plan and it has quinoa so I have been eating it.  I decided to look up why its supposed to be so good for you and wow! It's awesome!

Here are some of the health benefits:

High in Protein

A complete source of protein, meaning it has all 20 amino acids which includes all of the essential amino acids.  These essential amino acids can't be made in the body so they must come from your diet.  That is why they are called essential.  Not many plant sources are a complete source of protein.

High in fiber

It has lots of vitamins and minerals

And it is low in fat

Pretty awesome right! The first time I tried it I ate it raw with a ton of flax seed and blueberries.  Not gonna lie it was gross!  But I think all the flax seed is the main reason why haha
But  I have been perfecting the way I eat it for breakfast and now I really enjoy it!

First I cook the Quinoa in my rice cooker.  I did 1 cup quinoa and 2 cups water.  It made a bunch which is nice cause then I don't have to cook it every morning, I just store it in the fridge.

Then I add:
blueberries
strawberries
flax seed
and Almond milk

You could do whatever kind of fruit you wanted. I put in flax seed because its good for you, but I don't love the taste so I don't put in too much.
You could do regular milk if you wanted, but I just happened to have this vanilla almond milk and it makes it really yummy :)

So that has been breakfast this week! Love it!
Happy Valentine's day!
