We were lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving in
Texas this year!
First things first.. getting there!
I tried really hard to be prepared with activities and
snacks for Micah for the plane..
The last thing we wanted was a screaming toddler or to try and chase him up and down that tiny isle.
The whole crew!
We stayed with Matt's Aunt and Uncle in their beautiful home and had a blast.
Not a bad view..
Next stop, Moab!
We rushed to Moab to try and make it to the 1:00 church
and literally made it in the nic of time haha
We didn't stay long though.. Talk about wanting to get home in a big way.
First things first.. getting there!
I tried really hard to be prepared with activities and
snacks for Micah for the plane..
The last thing we wanted was a screaming toddler or to try and chase him up and down that tiny isle.
And I think we can call it a success! He loved his snacks, and I wrapped some
random little toys and he thought getting to open a present every now and then was awesome.
He also watched movies on the ipad and colored. Between all the thing
he stayed pretty entertained!
But traveling is still pretty rough..
When we went to check in our luggage one of our bags was too heavy so we
had to do a some rearranging. The bad that was too heavy had bear in it..
As soon as we opened the bag Micah demanded to have bear (bear wasn't supposed to go on the plane)
One time he drove his car on the head of the person in front of us.. oops! sorry! haha
There was some girls behind us that Micah would wave to and say hi over and over again
Running through the airport with his backpack and bear.
Basically everyone in the airport had some sort of comment. .
OH cute!! or I didn't know they made backpacks that size!
I think the most common was Awwwwww hahah
Once we got to Austin Sarah picked us up and we went and had some fabulous food.
After that we went to her Apt and had Christmas!
It was awesome.
That night we went and got some bbq. Because you can't go to Texas without having bbq as least a couple of times!
They had these awesome hand washers haha
It was so good.
Matt especially was in heaven.
The next day was Saturday and we headed off to San Antonio to go to Sea World!
It was Super windy and COLD!
I feel like every time we go to Texas we prepare
for warm weather and then its freezing haha
The main thing I wanted to do was watch the shows, but Micah wasn't too into that.
However he LOVED seeing this guy.. (can't think of his name right now haha)
Once we left he just stood and waved to him until the guy had to go inside haha
Micah would have been content to just run around, but we wanted to see all the different things.
So we had to drag him around which resulted in many tears haha
attempting to watch another show.
The whole crew!
The next day we went to church and then went and saw the Alamo and the San Antonio
board walk.
Then we went and had dinner with cousins which was so much fun.
That night we headed back to Austin.
Monday was a day devoted to exploring Austin!
Which meant beautiful scenery and food that made this pregnant
mama VERY happy!
26 weeks..
I'm 29 now and I feel like I'm about twice as big :(
haha
Oh Austin was also seeing lots of cool wall art.
We went to a park and went on a train ride!
The next day we did some super fun mini golfing.
Micah got his very own club and ball which he thought was pretty neat.
After mini golfing and one last fabulous meal we headed for Houston
We stayed with Matt's Aunt and Uncle in their beautiful home and had a blast.
Not a bad view..
We went shopping one day.. Micah could ride the elevator for the rest of his life..
Micah was in heaven cause there was SOO many new toys.
Also we had our own tv in our room which meant me and Matt could sleep in a little in the mornings.
It wasn't super warm, but that didn't stop Micah from trying to getting into the water.
I just loved their house..
Showing off our food belly's after Thanksgiving dinner.
Pretty sure I have them beat ;)
The day after Thanksgiving we started our trek home.
Matt's dad gave us a car (!!!!!!!!!) I mean, how sweet is that??
So we drove home.
I was super nervous for the drive being prego and all, so we took three days to do it.
The first night we stayed in Fort Stockton Texas.
And as soon as we got to our hotel Micah had to make a few phone calls.. haha
The next day we got so close to the boarder that we had to take a picture
Let me tell ya, long road trips with a two year old are MESSY!!
On Saturday we drove 10 1/2 hours and made it to Cortez, Colorado.
We wanted to make it there Saturday night so that Sunday morning we could check out
Mesa Verde National park.. and that we did.
The cliff dwellings were SO COOL!!! It just blew my mind to think of people building those
and living there.
Perks of Mesa Verde in the winter: We were the ONLY ones in the park!
I'm talking we didn't see a soul besides the park rangers and a few
people way off in the distance.
it probably helped that we were there pretty early in the morning.
Pretty cool to have the place to ourselves except when it came to trying to get
a family picture.. Turns out having people around makes that a lot easier!
But since it was winter there were no tours so we didn't go inside any of the ruins.
So we need to go back during the summer someday.
Next stop, Moab!
We rushed to Moab to try and make it to the 1:00 church
and literally made it in the nic of time haha
We didn't stay long though.. Talk about wanting to get home in a big way.
Matt really wanted to go and see some arches and what not
and I mean we were RIGHT there.. but I was SO done with traveling and just
wanted to get home already. (being prego didn't help anything)
And we actually made it home just before dark which was nice.
So Sunday night we made it home!!
We survived!
Driving that far at almost 27 weeks prego was no fun.
However seeing that much new country was fun, so now that it's over
I'm glad we did it.
Also Micah did SOOO good!!
What?? Yea. that was a surprise.
He would sit back there and yell and sing and just be happy for the most part.
When he got fussy we would give him a book or the ipad or a wipe (yes wipes can be very entertaining) and he would usually calm down.
We tried to stop every few hours and let him run around the gas station or wherever
we ended up and I think that helped him (and me!) a lot.
Such a fun vacation! I'm glad we were able to go to Texas :)
