I don't blog super regularly, (have I mentioned how Mason makes that hard? haha) but I want to try and always write about Christmas Eve and Christmas day cause those days are so special to me :)
Christmas Eve was awesome this year. We hung out and relaxed and we wrapped presents together (turns out if you put everything in boxes, you can wrap it in front of each other! So fun.) By the way Janell and Sarah were with us which was so fun. Loren and Jess came over and visited for a little while cause they were up here having Christmas with Jess's family.
Micah had a break down in the middle of the day and took a huge nap which was weird cause he doesn't really nap anymore. But I'm super glad he did. But we were starting to get anxious cause we wanted to go do some shopping. So when he finally woke up we headed out to get stocking gifts. Every year Matt and I give each other a small budget and then we go out and get stuff for each other's stockings. A lot of it is silly and cheap, but it's one of our favorite Christmas traditions.
So this year since we had guests everybody shopped for everyone else and it was SO fun. We went to target and the dollar store and picked out little things for each other and had a blast. Then we came home and made dinner and stuffed stockings and finished up a few things.
Our tradition is to have a fancy Christmas Eve dinner. It's basically the only time of the year that we go all out so it's extra special.
My table cloth BARELY fits on the table, and it just looks silly. So Sarah had the brilliant idea of putting it on like this! I love it! She saved Christmas!! haha
I've learned to not have expectations of what the kids will act like on special occasions. More often then not they seem to be fussy or not interested and I used to let that ruin it for me. This Christmas I decided that I wasn't going to base my happiness on the expectation of perfect happy children who come and eat and participate and have a good time haha
So Mason was asleep for half the meal and I was ok with that! We set a place for Micah, but I wasn't sure if he would willingly join in, but he did! He had a great meal! He LOVED the bubbly in the fancy glass and he actually ate the food! It was so fun!!
And now get ready for a ton of pictures of Micah and his fancy glass cause he was cracking us up.
Cheers!
After dinner we made a fire, which the boys were way into
Our tradition is to burn the tree from the year before :)
Such helpful guys
After watching some of the church's movies on Christ's birth we put the kids to bed. Then we got to play santa! I think that this is possibly the best part of Christmas.. Getting it all set up and getting excited for the kids!
Sarah is a master with bows! Our presents never look this pretty!
After it was all set up we visited and then went to bed with much anticipation for Christmas morning!!
I love all of this so much! Great insight with the kiddos! Love it and you!
