Getting rid of the paci

We made a huge breakthrough this weekend.
For a while now I've been thinking we should get rid of Micah's paci's.
I mean he is two years old and I should have to be searching for
a paci all the time right??

I was really hoping that this would happen more on its own, but instead the longer
we waited the more hooked Micah got! So we figured the time had
come and we better just take it away all together because the whole only give it to him
during naps and night time wasn't working.

I told Matt we had to do it on a weekend because I couldn't handle it alone.
So on Friday night we hid that pacis.. We did his normal routine
and Micah was WIRED! ha he was not acting tired at all so we through a little
curious george in there (which would rarely ever happen at bed time) to
get him to calm down.

We gave him his bear and his blanky, laid him down and prepared ourselves for the
fit of a lifetime.... and he never even cried! He went to sleep super sweet.
I figured it couldn't be that easy. And sure enough, at about 4 that morning I hear the
sweetest little voice.. Mama? Maaaaammmmaaaa??
So I go in and he says paci? So I took him out and showed him the drawer
where the pacis usually are and told him that they were all gone.
We had to stare at the drawer for a while, but he kinda got the idea.

After that I tried to distract him slash put him back to bed, but it never happened.
So by the time morning rolled around we were both exhausted and
thats when the fits really started.  He was super tired and I'm not sure he knew
how to calm down or go to sleep without his paci.

It was ugly that morning so we packed up and went on a car ride.
We got some breakfast and ended up hitting some yard sales and it was fun.
Then Micah fell asleep in the car and so we went home to try and put
him in his crib, but he woke up.

We lounged around that afternoon until I thought he was ready for a nap.
I put him in his crib and he was just in there playing and acting not
tired at all and super sweet so I got him up and he played for
another hour or so and then I knew he REALLY needed a nap so I
laid him down and he cried and cried, but I figured it was the only way for
him to learn that he CAN fall asleep without a paci.

That nap was the worst crying he ever had to do.  Again that night he went to sleep with
no problem at all!  On Sunday he cried a little bit at nap time, but it was way
way better then the day before.  Sometimes when he wakes up from his nap he will
ask for a paci, but besides him doing that like once he hasn't even asked for it.

It's Tuesday now and he has been sleeping and taking naps just like normal!
Yay!!! I think that battle is over and what a relief.
It was actually a lot easier then I thought it would be and I'm glad
we finally just did it cause now I don't have hear him crying for his paci all day!
Or stress about loosing them haha

Good job Mikes, you won!! :)

Life Lately

The day after Micah's birthday Matt's mom came for a visit.

We went to DI and Micah lined up all of the cars he could find haha

We found this little piano at a yard sale and we couldn't resist!

We went to liberty park and played in the little rivers

On Sunday we went on a drive and ended up at this pretty park

That week me and Micah had a little date.
Wendy's and the mall haha

Micah got more widgets for his birthday and now he can build really tall towers

Matt's dad came the next weekend

We went bowling and it was so fun.

This mini golf course is SO pretty and so fun

The way we play with Micah goes a little something like this..
He gets our balls and sets them up on the little starting plate then we
try and get the balls in the hole (without taking turns, its just
madness haha) before Micah picks them up.
Then Micah comes in and gets the balls out of the hole and we start over.
It's so fun and we never even have to bend over hehe

That weekend Micah went on his first carousal ride.
He thought it was way cool as long as we rode with him.
As soon as we got off the first time he wanted to go again

We also did some playing at the park

And wore Micah out haha

Some other happenings as of late..

Playing in the rain

getting in the fall spirit with cool new jammies and learning about pumpkins

And with a beautiful drive into the mountains

We went to mirror lake with some friends

he looks so little!

Matt found an old fishing line and Micah jumped right into the water.

Went out to eat afterwards and these cuties got to sit on a train

On the way home we passed this house with free tents by the sidewalk..
Score!!

Now that its a little cooler I put Micah in his robe after basically ever bath and I love it.

Freezing peaches!

We went to a neighbors and picked some veggies. Micah helped pick them and he thought
it was so cool! When we got home he just wanted to carry them all over the house.

and isn't that the best smile?? he never smiles like that so this is one of my new favorite pictures

Me and Micah got to go to the zoo with a friend and her little girl and we had so much fun!

here he is saying moo!!! cause that's what giraffes say

He loved this lion. He would grab its face and say hey bear!! haha

And that brings us today!
The day we went through baby cloths and tried them on Micah hahah

Oregon Coast and Redwood Vacation!

So this was on of the best and longest vacations that we have ever been on!
That being said this will either be the longest post
ever or I might have to break it up.. and I might leave a bunch out on accident haha

So My cousin got married in the Colombia River Temple.
We figured since we were already going to be up that direction that
we should make a vacation out of it and go down the Oregon Coast!
Luckily Luke and Tonya were on board cause doing the whole thing with them was so fun!

First stop was the wedding.  We rode our bikes around the town.

Traveling with cousins is the best :)

We got to do a little bit of swimming.
Unfortunately Micah got sick right off the bat haha
He had a stuff nose and a little fever and
you could tell that his throat was so so soar.
Poor thing!!

We were having a hard time trying to figure out what to do..
did we want to attempt this trip with a sick baby??
Well we gave Micah a blessing a felt like it would be ok,
and it was! he started getting better really fast
and he was able to enjoy the trip :)

I thought this was so cute.. Tally was telling Matt a story or something

We went to church and Micah was really fussy so dad took him out and when
Sacrement was over we went to find them and found Micah passed out on
bampa's lap :)

On Sunday we headed for the coast!
We turned Micah forward facing for the first time on this trip
It was a lot nicer for all of us

We stopped at this pretty waterfall on the way

We drove through Portland and stopped to see Matt's high school!

Our first night we camped on the coast.
The beach was just a small walk away and there were
berries in our campground

Micah's first time seeing the ocean!

That morning we went on a hike and then later that day we hiked down to this awesome beach!

We had fun playing in the sand
while the boys explored caves.
I went in the cave after they explored it and it was really cool.
We had to do some wading through the ocean and it just about killed me!!
So cold, but way fun.

We rode bikes on the beach!

On our way down the coast we stopped at this beach where we found a crab!

We also got to go to the coolest aquarium! It was awesome because it was a small group that
went on the tour and it was super personal.

After wards there was a little show that was one of my favorite things!
the seals were so funny and we were RIGHT there. So cool .

One of our very favorite parts of the trip was riding bikes through the redwoods.

The trail started out as a road and ended up as a single track which was SO fun.

After the bike ride we had a picnic by this crazy huge tree!

After that picnic we headed for Reno where we spent the night and then headed out to the farm.

Micah went on his first tractor ride!!

All the grandkids in once place!
That's a pretty big deal.

On Sunday we headed home.

This was a very very condensed version of this trip.
There's so much more I could write about, but I figure a little
bit is better then nothing! haha
