Our latest adventure: We bought a house!

I think its safe to say that I have been dreaming of the day that I could call a house my very own
since I was just a little girl.  It's always been so exciting to think of having a place
that was my very own to raise my family and make a million happy memories.

When we got married that dream intensified! I was SO excited for the day we could
buy a house together and make it our own.
It was always on my mind, but lots of things had to happen before buying a home.
In the three years we have been married we have move 6 times.
The longest we have lived anywhere is about 8 or 9 months.

When Matt got his internship we fell in love with Utah.
I honestly never thought that would happen! Utah is never somewhere I thought
we would end up, but we really do love it here!
Once Matt got his job we started thinking (and mostly dreaming)
about the different areas we could end up in.
But then we moved back to Rexburg and the dream got put on hold while he finished school.

Once Matt graduated we got a little closer to my dream!
And now here we are, homeowners!
But let me just tell you, the process was awful!
At first it was fun going around looking at houses.
It was exciting to be on the hunt for a home.
But then it all became real as we put in offers and got shut down over and over.

Pretty soon we started to get very discouraged.
Turns out it is super hard to find a house! at least it was for us.
Then we found a house that was in the perfect location.
It needed some work, but thats why it was in our price range!

While we were looking at it the first time our realtor called and found out
that it had gone under contract five minutes earlier.
Once again we left disappointed and super discouraged! I never thought we'd find a place.
But we decided to put in a back up offer just in case.

So the hunt continued, we found more places, but nothing compared to that other house.
Then one day our realtor called to tell us that we were too late on another offer,
but, he said, the good news is that your back up offer got accepted!
What!!?? we have a chance at our dream home?
We were so stoked.

And then the long grueling process of getting all the loan and stuff worked out began.
Goodness you know those TV shows where they look at three houses,
choose their favorite, and then put in an offer and get it for less then the
asking price everytime?  HA!! such a joke
Maybe its like that for some people, but not for us.

Because this house is a definite fixer upper there was lots of problems getting the loan to go through.
We went through on thing after another.
There were SO many problems we had to work through.
There were so many times I didn't think it was gonna work.
I wouldn't even let myself start planning how I wanted to decorate the house
cause I didn't want to get excited and then let down.

Let me tell you it was a rollercoaster!
It was about a month and a half of craziness before everything started to fall into place.
Finally things started working out and we got the keys!

So there is our story.
sorry it was a little long, but I just felt like writing it all down.
And now here are some pictures!!

And now we are renovating like mad!
I mentioned its a fixer upper? That's probably an understatement haha
But we are LOVING fixing it up.
Seriously its all I want to do all day long.
There is just something about taking this place that has been run down
and making it beautiful.
It's definitely a dream come true.

So watch out for lots of before and after posts ;)
