Mason's First 4th of July

I wanted to write a little about the 4th of July this year cause it was pretty great.  First off we got to have Matt's sister Sarah come stay with us a week or so before the 4th which was SO fun!

For the 4th we had a big Wilcox family reunion.  We all went and stayed in a huge cabin up in Park city.  There was lots of visiting, good food, games, and good times.  It was crazy having so many people in one cabin, but it was super fun.  We haven't got to see a lot of Matt's cousins in a while so we had a blast catching up.

Mason did great with all the craziness! It was really loud and busy all the time and he loved it! When Micah was that age he would get over stimulated super easy and he would just have a melt down.  He did not do well with noise and crowds, but Mason did great!

The view from the cabin was amazing

There were some games in the basement and of course Matt got a little creative with them

The cabin was way up in the mountains with nothing but trees around, it was so cool.

Me and sarah's Matching toes :)

We took family pictures and Sarah did makeup for almost everyone there haha

They had a few activities where everyone would leave the cabin and go somewhere, but we always ended up not going cause Mason would be sleeping or something haha

On the 4th of July there was a parade, but we ended up just hanging out at the cabin.  We chilled on the porch for a lot of that day.  It was so peaceful and pretty.

That night we headed out to go do some fireworks.  We had our own and we found a park to set them off at.  So we set off a few and it was all fine and good until one of them tipped over and hit me and Mason!  I was sitting on a camp chair next to Sarah and it went in between us and then went into my chair and blew up right behind my head.

I leaned forward and when it exploded I kinda threw Mason onto the grass.  I think it was half shock from getting exploded and half my instinct to get Mason out of there.  After the first one exploded right behind me, another one shot right by us.  At that point I grabbed Mason and started running!

Nothing else hit us and we were all fine.  My hair was scorched pretty bad though.  I thought for sure that I was going to have to cut it all off because it was one big matted melted mess of hair.  It was pretty nasty and it smelled awful haha  I wasn't worried about that though I was just sad that I threw my baby!  Really I kinda just tossed him on the soft grass, but still! I felt so bad.

He cried for a while from all the craziness, but once things calmed down he started smiling and being happy and I checked his eyes when we got back to the car and he was doing great.  I kept it together pretty good until we got back to the car.  Then I had a good cry haha it was scary!! But it could have been a lot worse.

Well we got back home and I was too tired to worry about my hair so I just went to bed.  The next day I decided to try brushing it out.  I brushed and brushed and a ton of hair fell out.  Then I washed it and it was almost back to normal. Its a good thing I have really thick hair! That was quite the way to end out weekend.
