1 Month old Mason

Life is crazy. Or rather, having two kids is crazy!
I barely have time to breath so writing a post is hard.
But right now Mason is sleeping and so I thought I really need to write a post about him being a month old! Now that he is six weeks old... Oops

At one month old Mason was 11 lbs 6 oz!
I didn't get around to measuring how tall he is.. Guess I'll just let the do that at his two month appointment.

He is the cutest little baby I ever did see.  Seriously I just stare at him most of the time and when I'm not staring at him I'm either taking pictures of him or talking about how cute he is haha obsessed is an understatement.

During his first month of life it seemed like he was awake way too much.  I read somewhere that newborns were supposed to only be up for like an hour our of the day or something crazy.  He just didn't sleep that much! Micah was the same way.  Super wide awake and alert right off the bat.

When Mason does nap its usually for 30 minutes tops.  This was also the same as Micah.  Apparently I make little cat nappers. The only way Mason would take a decent nap is if I held him the whole time.  So usually during Micah's nap I would hold him for a couple hours just to make sure he got at least one decent nap.

At about two weeks old poor little Mason started into some no fun tummy troubles.  He has such a hard time with getting bubbles up and gas in general.  We have been giving him probiotic drops and using gripe water and I have tried not eating just about everything.  He has better days, but in general he is pretty fussy.  My mom thought maybe I should try to stop eating soy, so I have done that and I think it has helped quite a bit, but he still has a hard time. And by the way soy is in EVERYTHING!! I had a hard time figuring out what to eat! But it has made me a lot healthier haha

I also have been trying to eat very little dairy and none of the gas causing fruits and veggies.. He has definitely improved.. For a while there days and nights were rough and I was one tired mama.
Maybe its just something that he will grow out of (hopefully) At first it was way more bad days then good, but lately he has been having more good days.  But he is in my arms most of the time.. I'm getting pretty good at doing stuff one handed.  And when he does give me a break it doesn't last long.  I'm learning to take care of myself first. When I get a little break the first thing I want to do is clean or something like that, but i've learned to make sure that I have some food or a rest instead and it has helped me survive.

Except for when his tummy was really bugging him (which was right after I ate sushi, another reason why I think it is the soy) he does pretty good at night.  Usually he will sleep for 4 or 5 hours and then get up every two hours after that.  When he was tiny he had a couple nights when he randomly slept for like 7 hours.  but that didn't last haha

I feel like he is growing up way too fast.  He was already big when he was born and then he just put on weight and grew so fast!! Its crazy.  He does pretty great at nursing.  I have a had a few break downs where I just wish that someone else could feed him every once and a while because he ate so often.  I wanted to try pumping, but it seemed like he just kept me drained all the time so I didn't know when to pump! haha but he eats faster now so It's not as big of a deal.

Despite it being hard sometimes I just LOVE nursing!! I really hope we make it longer then I did with Micah.
Having a newborn is a wild ride haha on one hand its the most amazing thing.  That little tiny cute snuggly baby is the best thing ever! On the other hand is is SCARY! He depends on us for everything and it is definitely hard!  I went between wanting to just skip the newborn phase altogether and never wanting it to end.

Now that things are a little easier and a little less scary I don't want him to ever grow up though haha

Here are a few (million) pictures off my phone of his first month

The day we got home.. Micah had to be right in the middle of grandma and grandpa

We had to take Mason into the hospital three different times to get blood drawn for a billi reuben test.  It was the worst.

Hanging out with grandpa. I was so glad that my dad got to be here for a little while!!

This was the first time we did tummy time.  Micah wanted in on the action so I got him his own blanket.

Micah needed a lot of mommy time to make up for me being so preoccupied.  So basically every time I would nurse he would come sit by me.  It was nice until he would want to sit on me or get crazy haha

Micah basically ignored Mason for the first month.  It was like there was no baby.  Maybe he thought that it would all go away if he didn't acknowledge him haha the one thing he liked to do however was give the baby his pacifier.

First time to just hangout outside

Giving Mason a sponge bath and Micah wanted in on the action

We bought this little newborn outfit and Mason was so big that he only wore it once and that was just for a couple of pictures. Then I could barely get it off of him haha

Getting chubby!

A little bubble one on one time with mommy was desperately needed

This was one of the first times that Micah showed interest in Mason.  Mason was on the floor and Micah went over and layed by him and stared at him for a while.  It was cute.

Meeting Auntie Sarah!

Best dad ever!!

Sometimes Mason and Micah want to be held at the same time.

Watching the baby get a bath

I'm not the only sleep deprived one around here..
Micah fell asleep under the counter one day.. Later he fell asleep on the couch which was so weird! Usually he has to be in his bed to sleep

One day Micah found this little baby doll and he took it into the room and sat with it on the chair that I feed Mason in.  He was so cute taking care of his little baby! Then he asked to have Mason sit beside him! This was the first time he wanted the baby anywhere near him.  It was so cute.  After they got off the chair Micah wanted to change the baby doll's diaper.  haha so cute.

Eating out with both the kids.  Mason did a lot better then Micah haha

This was the day he turned a month old.  We went up into American Fork canyon.  His first trip up the canyon!! Pretty big deal.. We sat in the car while I fed him and Matt and Micah went for a little hike.

I was super lucky to have help for almost a whole month!
First it was my mom, then Matt's mom, then Matt's sister, then two of my brothers came and they were super helpful! Then Matt took a few sick days here and there and with all of that I was really only on my own a couple days out of the month.  I sure am spoiled :)

Besides all of those people helping my ward and neighbors have been amazing!! Bringing dinners and presents and taking Micah.  I'm just so thankful for all the help. I have some pretty amazing people in my life.
