9 month old Micah

So Micah is more like 9 and a half months..
The day before he turned 9 months he had his surgery.
(you can read all about that here)

So, as you can imagine, we didn't do a lot of picture taking or blogging the next day.. or the next couple of weeks.
He got really sick and he has been teething, so life has been rough, but it's a lot better now!

So here are a few things about a 9 month old Micah

He still has two teeth, but he is working hard at getting some more. It seems like he has been teething for months..
I'm pretty sure he is getting his top two in at the same time, poor baby. He frantically chews on everything. Including me haha

Micah is really good at saying mama and dada now.
I know that those are the two easiest things for him to say, but I swear he knows that I'm mama and Matt is dada.
All day he says mama mama mama (side note its not mamamamamama he stops with mama, he knows! haha)
But then when daddy comes home he switches to dada.

Everyday we wait out on the balcony for daddy to come home.  Everyday when Micah sees Matt get out of the car he gets super excited. Its so cute.
Yesterday when he saw him get out of the car he got super excited and yelled dad!

So as you can see he is a huge daddy's boy.
He loves me and he wants me when he is sad or sick, but when it's time to play it doesn't get much better then daddy.

But I mean I can't blame him.. Daddy is so much fun!

Micah is a big fan of the kitchen these days.  It's pretty much his favorite place to play

One day he was playing on the drawers and Matt showed him that they opened.. Now that is his favorite.

He also discovered the other day that he can turn on and off the xbox.
I tried to hurry and distract him with lots of toys and stuff, but no way he went right back and played with that awesome button.
So I grabbed him and took him down the hall and then ran and put a bunch of games in front on the xbox to see if maybe he would forget..
he crawled back in the room and this is what happened.

Straight to playing with that power button
He is very determined and he doesn't forget about things easily.

Micah has learned how to give kisses and it's pretty much my favorite thing ever.
He will crawl over and give me kisses randomly during the day, its so cute. And last night when Matt came home he got a bunch of kisses.

He is also obsessed with faces.  Noses, ears, and eyes, are his favorite.  He loves to grab them and scratch them.  It's pretty cute, and super painful haha

he is getting pretty good at using his walker.
i love how he shakes it. show that thing who's boss

A few random things..
We were eating with Matt's dad and sister and there was this super hard piece of bread.
No one wanted it so I gave it to Micah
He loved it!
He chewed on it the rest of the time in the restaurant and most of the way home.

He also thought it was pretty cool when I put him in a pile of pillows at Costco last night

And here is a little video of him talking with his spoon.

I love my baby.  I love him so much and I'm so grateful he's mine!!

My poor Micah

This has been the hardest week of poor little Micah's life
It all started last Monday with a surgery.
It was a pretty simple surgery, nothing major, but still it just about tore me apart.
He had to fast the morning of the surgery, but he did surprisingly well with that!
This is the best picture I got on my phone haha
He was having a great time at the hospital.
We went to Primary Children's and they were so awesome!
They had lots of toys and things to keep him distracted and it worked great.

The surgery took about an hour.
(in case you are super curious it was a hypospadius repair, your welcome to look it up lol)
When we finally got to see him again he was still sleeping.
When he woke up he was hungry and super sad.
The worst part was how bad his throat sounded, I guess they used a breathing tube
and it made his throat really sore

He cried for a while, but then finally fell back asleep
I was so happy to just hold him.
we have known that he would have to get this surgery since he was about 2 weeks old
And I have been dreading the day he would have to have for all this time.
Finally having it over with is SUCH a relief!!
I am the best at worrying :)

We got to bring him home that same day.
My mom came up to help me out and I am SO SO grateful she did!
I couldn't have done it without her.

Monday was pretty rough
Matt and I barely slept the night before.
We crashed while mom held Micah and gave him his medicine.

Tuesday was a lot better
He was happier and acting like he wasn't hurting as bad
We though wow this isn't going to be so bad!
wrong

On Wednesday he woke up with a fever
we called the nurse and they said it wasn't bad enough to worry too much about
Then it got worse, poor baby
We took him to the doctor and they said he wasn't infected or anything, it was probably a virus
Sure enough he was sick on top of recovering from surgery!

The poor little guy was soo sick
All we could do was just hold him and give him his medicine

He was sick like that for a few days
He started to recover, but he was hardly eating anything
So yesterday I ended up taking him to the doctor again
And now he has an ear infection!
The poor guy it never ends!!
Oh and on top of it all he has been teething pretty bad.

So as you can imagine life has been pretty rough around here..
We are hoping that now that he has antibiotics that he will be able to get better.

I am so grateful for prayer, fasting, and priesthood blessings!
They have got me through it all.
There have been several nights when Micah would make up screaming and there was nothing I could do for him, then Matt would give him a blessing and he would calm right down.

I love my baby! It has been so hard to see him suffer
but little by little he is getting back to his normal self

Lake babies

So this was a little bit ago, but I just wanted to document Micah's first lake experience!

I honestly didn't think he would like it.
It was super windy and I was scared he would get cold.

But we put him down in the water and he loved it!
He just splashed and played in the mud and never acted like he wanted to leave

These two are so cute.  They are super close in age and they had so much fun at the lake!

All the mamma's and babies

We spent quite a bit of time watching these wind surfer guys.
it was so cool!

And that was our day at the lake!

The Grand Canyon!

So a couple of weeks before Memorial day weekend we were watching a show about cool places.
The grand canyon came up and we were like hey, let's go to the Grand Canyon for Memorial weekend!

Matt has never been before and we figured this was as good a time as any.  We called up some cousins that we haven't got to see in a while and asked if they wanted to meet there..
They were in and we were off!

It was a super long drive
And the radio in our car is broken

We may have gone a little crazy

But it was totally worth the drive once we finally got there!

We drove all day and showed up after dark.. We actually drove 30 past where we were supposed to be.. And had to drive back.. That was a bummer haha

So This was Micah's first time tent camping!

We pretty much kept him in this little suit the whole time we were around camp because it was freezing!! Here we thought the Grand Canyon would be warm..
The days weren't bad, but nights were super cold

\
The other reason we kept him in the suit was because every time we put him on the ground he would immediately eat all the dirt and rocks he could find.
So we covered up his hands

See what I mean?

So on Saturday we spent the day sight seeing and hiking

In case you were wondering, the Grand Canyon is huge!!

It was so awesome to see it

Here we all are right before out little hike.
We had so much fun hanging out with James and Kristy
Their little girl is also in this picture.. She's on james' back..

I thought the switchbacks looked super cool

The babies loved hiking!

We hiked down to ooh aah point

Yep that's really what its called

Micah was seriously loving it

All the hiking really wore out the babies

But once they woke up they had lots of fun playing on the table together

They were good little buddies, it was fun to watch them.

Super great day

We went home through St George and got to be there for my cousin's baby blessing

She was so precious and perfect!!
And my cousin made her dress and headband, super impressive!

The little girl in the middle is my other cousin's baby who is super close in age to Micah
This was my first time getting to meet her so that was awesome!

Micah thought this bike was pretty cool (but I'm pretty sure Matt liked it the most)

Micah also had a blast playing with my cousin's boy Jason
 They were so cute together!
It was so good to see family and get to hang out with them for a little while

The next day on the way home my uncle took us to Kolob Canyon

It was SOOO pretty! We had such a fun time hiking and seeing this awesome place

We found this little sandy trail through the canyon

It was pretty much my favorite part

We had a super awesome memorial weekend!!
