Home made strawberry vinaigrette

So I just discovered something..

You can make homemade salad dressing!

And its awesome!

I have been eating quite a lot of salads and I love them, but I don't want to go and ruin a good salad by putting a fatty bad for you dressing on top.. 

So I tried making my own.  My first try was good, but I really like my dressings to be a little sweet.  That's when I decided to try making my own strawberry vinaigrette. 

And it was awesome! And good for you :) 

Here is the basic recipe I use.

2 Tablespoons olive oil

1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 Tablespoon lemon juice

1 Tablespoon Strawberry Jam

Simple as that!

But there are a few changes I plan on making for next time

This particular recipe always makes just a little too much for one salad so next time I will probably just eye-ball it and make just enough so that I don't have to throw any away.

Also I think I will do less strawberry jam next time, it was a little much.

You can substitute any kind of jam and make it your own!

I would have loved to go have a green themed picnic today.. but it decided to snow, and hail, and be windy. So I guess our picnic will have to wait. 

Moments

Sometimes I wish I could watch all of my favorite moments in movie form..

Like that moment when I was reading Micah his bedtime story and Matt hid behind the book and, to Micah's delight, would jump up and make the noise of whatever animal I mentioned.. So of course I named every animal that I could possibly think of to see what kind of a sound he comes up with.

Or the time when all three of us were in bed eating chocolate (we all have those days right?) and Micah is just so interested in the box of reese's pieces.  So Matt closes the box and hands it to him. Micah shakes it and is as happy as can be.  I take the box and get some candy and give it back, Micah continues to shake it only this time candy goes everywhere! And he just keeps on shaking.  We are laughing so hard we can hardly stop him, and when we do he goes straight for the candy.

Then there are always moments like tonight when Matt wants to show me a song so he puts it on and then dances with me as we listen :)

Also tonight, Micah couldn't fall asleep so I finally took him to our bed and laid with him hoping it would help.  (Usually he hates being held while he is trying to fall asleep, but lately he seems to like it better) He wiggled for a while, but then he was very still.  I thought for sure he was asleep, but when I looked at him his eyes were wide open and he was just staring.  He would stop sucking on his paci every now and then to smile, and I could tell he was on the verge of laughing.  I put my hand on his tummy and he would give a little tired giggle.  Same would happen if I put my hand on his knee.  He would never look over or get more awake.. Just stare off and giggle.  It was so cute.

I love the moments when we aren't even trying to get Micah to laugh and all of sudden he starts to giggle at the funniest things.  Like when Matt was cleaning up and he threw a cup in the sink.  The sound really cracked Micah up!  So then of course he went on to picking up all sorts of things and Micah just laughed and laughed.  I'm pretty sure it's the most we have heard him laugh.

I love these sweet moments with my boys. 

I am so blessed to have my little family.  They mean the world to me! Life is so great.

6 Month Old Micah

Micah is 6 months old!

Micah is a little bundle of fun

He really wanted to get his six month sticker

If I put it in front of him he would grab it, so I put it behind him and he would still turn around and try to grab it. 

He is super good at getting up on all fours now

Micah also has his first tooth coming through! 

I can't believe I have a baby that has a tooth and is about to crawl!  So crazy

Micah can scoot and roll all over the place now.  He is especially good at scooting backwards.  Which is frustrating to him cause he sees something he wants and then tries to scoot to it, but just gets farther away. 

Micah also got to try his first taste of real food (besides rice cereal) We gave him so avocado

He thought it was a little crazy at first 

But then he decided it was all right :)

Then he wanted more

He was a pretty happy camper

And getting wiped off afterwards wasn't too bad either

This is what happens when Micah is in his bumbo.. he always hangs over the side and tries to grab everything.

On a side note I LOVE my baby bullet! 

It's awesome.  Making a bunch of baby food is super quick and I know exactly what Micah is eating :) Love it!

Micah Loves to play! Especially with daddy :)

I can't get over this picture! It looks photo shopped, but I promise it wasn't haha He is just floating! I love it.

Micah is getting more and more into books lately.  He loves to hit the pages and try to suck on it.

Micah was also a big fan of the paper on the bed at the doctor's office

His 6 Month appointment went just great besides the shots of course.  He was a tough guy, but I just hate to see him hurting.

After the shots the nurse gave me a sucker and said I could decide if I gave some to Micah.. Really? Give him a sucker? Is that really ok? haha well either way I couldn't give Micah his first candy without his daddy there so I let him hold it and he grabbed it and stuck it right in his mouth just like he a pro sucker eater.

His shots were really hard on him.  Poor baby. He was just crying and crying, and I didn't think he would let me swaddle and hold him, but it was one of the only things that made him happy. 

I can't say that I didn't enjoy holding him like that, it was just like when he was tiny. 

One of the only other things that made him happy was going on a walk, but unfortunately it was really cold and then it started to rain so we had to go back inside. 

He was a lot better the next day.  Poor guy has a hard time with those shots. 

He also has been doing a lot of teething lately which hasn't been fun either, but he is still so fun.
